This page explains what German Journey stores, what leaves your browser, and how you can manage consent and account data.
What stays on your device
Your progress, bookmarks and settings are stored in your browser, or in your account if you sign in. See Progress for details and a backup option.
Account data
When you sign in, your learning progress, bookmarks, notes, preferences and account profile are stored in Supabase so they can be used across your devices. You can permanently delete all of it yourself on your account page.
What leaves the browser
Only the text you choose to have read aloud is sent to the speech server; it is not stored there.
Analytics and consent
Product analytics uses PostHog only after consent from visitors in the EU, EEA and UK. It records learning interactions and page views to improve the service. You can decline or withdraw consent in Settings. Visitors outside these regions can also opt out there.

Explainer videos are embedded from third parties and may set their own cookies once played.
Feedback
If you send feedback, your message, the page it came from, your interface language and the optional e-mail address you provide are sent to our analytics provider PostHog, where our team reads them. Nothing is stored in our own database. We use this information only to improve German Journey and answer you when an address is provided.
Update e-mails
If you leave your e-mail address for updates, it is stored only to send occasional notes about the project. It is never shared or sold, and you can ask for its removal at any time by writing to support@germanjourney.app.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all its data at any time on the Account & sync page. To request a copy of your data, or for any other question, contact the address listed in the Imprint.
