Standard German is the base

What differs is daily vocabulary: Servus and Grüß Gott instead of Hallo, Sackerl instead of Tüte, Erdäpfel instead of Kartoffeln, Jänner instead of Januar. Glossary entries can show a Viennese everyday variant next to the standard form, so you recognise both without learning two languages.
